Ahahaha. Get em Petey.

It still such a travesty that the BEST PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT is being denied his Hall of Fame status and tributes because of a pussyclot grudge by THE WORST COMMISSIONER IN THE HISTORY OF ALL SPORTS.

When Fay Vincent left he handed over the reigns to Bud the Slug. Even if Fay was the one to put the ban on Pete, Bud has kept it even with overwhelming support against it.

Pete is STILL one of the greatest ambassadors of not just the MLB but Baseball itself and Bud is almost singlehandedly a killer.

This is Bud's true "legacy"

1 - Responsible for 1994 Strike that CANCELED THE WORLD SERIES

2 - In order to bring baseball back, pretty much ushered in the steroid era himself, by knowingly not even attempting to pretend to crackdown on it.

3 - Involved with a bitter feud against the greatest player of all time.

4 - Limp wristed attempt to "clean up the game" (that HE messed up) has failed miserably and is evident in the diminishing popularity of the game.

5 - Went from America's past time, to America's sports bane. NFL and football are now ridiculously ahead in popularity and Baseball has dipped further every year. Basketball is always on the rise and the truth is College Football and B Ball are more popular than baseball now. Even soccer is on the rise and baseball is still acting like everything is ok.

6 - Commissioner on duty for the Moneyball era. It's EXACTLY Bud's reign that has brought Yankees, Braves, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, Orioles, Cubs .etc Big Market payrolls to the forefront and has further damaged the rep of it's own players. There are no more golden boy heroes. There are now millionaires with asterisks.

7 - Homefield advantage in the WS given to All-Star Leagues winner. THIS caused the Red Sox to win and the Cards the best team in 04 to mess up!! I blame this on Selig!!!!!

The only positive thing I could think of during Bud's reign was the introduction of the Wild Card playoff round and The World Classic.

I ranted so much and I didn't even to Pete's quotes.

In an exclusive interview with Sportsnet on Wednesday, an angry Pete Rose opened up on his lack of a second chance and on Bud Selig, saying he will be known as "the commissioner that was on duty when steroids took over, just like I am going to be the baseball player that gambled."

Rose was in Concord, Ont., for an autograph session and sat down for an interview with Sportsnet. When asked about having not yet been reinstated by Major League Baseball, he laid the blame squarely at the feet of Selig.

"It's strange, it's one man, it's Bud Selig. You know Bud, get a life. You give everybody else a second chance, and to be honest, fans have given [Selig] another chance," said Rose. "All you hear now is he's gonna clean up all the steroids; well all the steroids started on his watch, so he should clean them up."

"The strange thing about my case is, I seem to be the only guy from America that can't get a second chance," Rose added. "It's sad to say this, but if I had been on drugs, I'd have gotten a second chance, if I had been an alcoholic, I'd have gotten a second chance, if I had been a spousal beater, I'd have gotten a second chance, but I chose the vice that baseball just can't stand, gambling."

"I was wrong, I bet on my own team to win every night," Rose said. "That's what I did. That's how bad a guy I was. I had so much faith in my players, it was like my sons playing for me. I didn't bet on them two nights a week, I bet on them every night, [and] I did everything in my power to win the game every night."

"People today say, 'well, he's not sorry he did that.' Let me explain something, I got kicked out of the game I love, it cost me over $50 million, and I get a kick out of people saying I hurt them," said Rose. "I hurt my family and myself more than anybody and you just won't get me to believe that I hurt baseball more than what's going on in baseball today [with steroids]."

Watch the video here.

Although I wholeheartedly agree he would have been back if he was a drug induced psychotic wifebeater... the one claim he was making that the stars of today couldn't be better than yesteryear without drugs I disagree with.

But do think about this. Barry Bonds in the 70s would be a hero making parades everywhere.

Willie Mays or Mickey Mantle of today ... Asterisked and Commish not even attending historic record breaking game.

Seriously WE should STILL be celebrating Bonds record now... the gawddamned home run record was destroyed. Instead we are questioning him and diluting his character and the record itself, not to mention all records broken in this era and future ones.

Just think Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton, Lefty Grove would be questioned about his workout routines nowadays. Don't even try to think about Nolan. Just the fact he was a power pitcher so late in his career is enough to hang him in the internet era.

NONE OF THIS would be a question if steroids were dealt with right away. Steroids WOULD have been dealt with right away if the game didn't need it to be popular again. It wouldn't need to be popular if there was no strike.

Ironic since the popularity has not only faded but garnered resentment towards the entire industry.

Way to Go Bud.

Never a Reds fan but Charlie Hustle has been buttfucked enough already. If the steroid mongers can make it into the "Hall" then Pete should too.

Oh n by the way.... I loooove that the lovely redheaded lovebomb Bex picture is beside mine on my view of the homepage... ahhhhhhh

he didn't hurt baseball any more than what's going on with all of this steroids shit. he is correct on that.

however.

i don't think that cheaters - gamblers, injectors, bat corkers, whatever - should be allowed into the HOF.

you let pete rose in? better fucking put in shoeless joe.

i'd write more, but i can't stop laughing at the whole blaming selig for the cards losing the series in '04. not that i'm defending the moron in anyway... but damn. that really made me laugh.

ahah well u notice I can't blame it on the choke nor can I find anything to fault with for last year. :(

Shoeless Joe doesn't deserve to be in.

Joe was a hot player for a few years. He was a star for those few years, when he got banned he was at the prime, he WAS about to bust out, he didn't have the HOF numbers yet. It'd be like saying Steve Avery or John Olerud or Brady Anderson are worthy HOFers.

Chipper Jones and Jeff Kent have better shots. Compared to Joe, Jim Rice, Andre Dawson should be shoo-ins. His "legacy" has more to do with his "story" than his facts.

This is the same Hall of Fame that has decided Jack Morris is not worthy yet or even Lee Smith who retired as the greatest Reliever ever ... and they have since inducted 3 or 4 relievers with worse numbers.
